Enhancing the Capacity of the Somaliland Fire Brigade

The celebration, which included cutting the ribbon to unveil and exhibit the new firefighting equipment that will greatly enhance their capacity to put out fires in the community, was led by Somaliland President Bihi.

The president was greeted at the fire station by Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed Hassan (in Swahili), the commander of the fire brigade, and he was given a salute by the fire brigade troops that were present at the station.

While observing recently increased resources to the fire department, President Bihi toured the various departments within the fire brigade headquarters, noting the progress of the work being done there for the community

Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed Swahili, the fire brigade commander, briefed the president on the various equipment types that were displayed today and mentioned how these new equipment types will improve the fire brigade’s services to the community.

During his speech, Mohamed Adan Saqadhi (Daba-gale), the chief of Somaliland police, praised the fire department’s accomplishments and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

Also, the ministers of Livestock Care and the Ministry of the Interior, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and Seed Sulub, respectively, commended the new apparatus the fire department had received and the department’s leadership.

President Bihi concluded by congratulating the fire department and its leadership, highlighting the effective system put in place by the commander and his unwavering commitment to obtaining the resources needed to carry out his duties.

The Somaliland fire brigade, which celebrated its tenth anniversary today, is thought to be among the organizations in Somaliland that have greatly benefited the community throughout its existence by saving many lives and significant amounts of properties.
