Somaliland Military Readied for Decisive Offensive after Credible Intel

On February 28, some of the so-called allies of Somalia gathered in Washington, DC, and released a statement that was posted on the US State Department website, commenting on a number of problems relating to Somalia and the unrest in the city of Las Anod

It said in regard to the crisis at Las Anod:
“The partners expressed concern about the ongoing conflict in and around Lascanood and called on all parties to adhere to the ceasefire, de-escalate, allow humanitarian access unhindered, and engage in constructive and peaceful dialogue,” reads the statement.”

Participants in the meeting included representatives from the US, UK, Turkey, UAE, Qatar, and Somalia, which is directly involved in the Las Anod aggression.

It defies logic that despite total disregard for the facts on the ground, a country that is an aggressor to pose as a peacemaker and get a seat at the table in such type of conflict resolution venues, and other meeting attendees show an eagerness believing that.

The drama Somalia plays in the crisis at Las Anod is similar to if Russia were to say the warring parties in Ukraine must control themselves and keep the peace.

The partners are damaging international diplomacy and regional security in the Horn of Africa by exclusively dealing with and blindly entertaining such absurd narratives of Somalia.

Somaliland had no choice but to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity given the current political environment and rhetoric.

After reliable intelligence, Somaliland Ministry of Defense made clear its intention and readiness to fend any aggression off with below statement.

Hargeisa, Somaliland, March 02, 2023 – The Somaliland Government and Ministry of Defense would like to inform the international community, regional governments, and the United Nations that we have received credible intelligence indicating that forces from the Puntland Administration of Somalia, including PSF and The Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF), are planning an attack on the National Army of the Republic of Somaliland in the coming days.

The Republic of Somaliland takes this threat seriously and has taken all the necessary steps to safeguard Somaliland’s people and territories.
Unfortunately, Puntland Administration has chosen to be so hostile towards Somaliland. We want to be clear, however, that we will not back down or surrender to any aggression. We will defend ourselves and our people with all available resources.

We urge the international community and the United Nations to condemn this unjustified act of aggression and support the Republic of Somaliland’s right to self-defense. In the event of an attack, Puntland Administration will be held accountable for their actions.

We hope the disputes will be settled peacefully and that Puntland Administration will reconsider its confrontational stance toward Somaliland.
The Republic of Somaliland remains committed to peaceful coexistence and cooperation with all our neighbors, but we will not hesitate to defend our citizens, territory, and sovereignty when necessary.
