Africa's Culture, Products and Services on Display in Taipei
The Africa Culture, Products and Services Expo was held on December 4 and 5 in Taipei. She highlighted the strength of relations between Taiwan and African countries.
Held at Nishi Honganji Square in Wanhua Ward, the event was part of the Africa Day celebrations. It brought together 24 African and Taiwanese non-governmental organizations, companies and institutions.
It was opened by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Tsao; by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Eswatini, Thamie Dlamini; by the representative of the South African Liaison Office in Taipei, Robert Seraki Matsebe; by the delegate of the Nigerian Trade Bureau in Taiwan, Ibrahim Akopari Ahmed; as well as by Mohamed Omar Hagi Mohamoud, head of the Somaliland Representative Office in Taiwan.
Taiwan, as assured by Miguel Tsao, will continue to work with countries across Africa to create mutually beneficial opportunities while promoting inclusive prosperity for the benefit of people. The vice-minister also expressed his optimism about the possibility of closer bilateral economic exchanges through the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
In response, Thamie Dlamini said the nations of Africa attach great importance to economic and trade relations with Taiwan. He also took this opportunity to thank Taiwan for contributing to building the capacity to fight the coronavirus in the Kingdom of Eswatini and other partner countries.
There is no doubt that “Taiwan can help,” said the ambassador, adding that the Kingdom of Eswatini will continue to support Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, a set of photographs presenting the public and private humanitarian action carried out by Taiwan in Africa was presented during the two days.
