Pilot Project by Taiwan to Boost Agricultural Production in Somaliland
Taiwan is launching a program to help the Republic of Somaliland boost agricultural production.
The Somaliland Ministry of Agriculture and officials from the Taiwanese embassy in Hargeisa, who jointly announced the program, said they would teach Somaliland farmers how to grow more in a small area.
The director of Somaliland’s Ministry of Agriculture, Roble Abdi Muse, told the BBC that the program was one of several projects being implemented by Taiwan in Somaliland to promote agricultural development and production.
“It is a project designed in a collaborative manner, with the ministry adding that Taiwan will bring in the rest. This project is different from other projects in that it is a pilot project.”
“Taiwan will set up a farm in the country, which will serve as a showcase, so that farm will use modern methods to produce more land.”
