President Bihi Receives Malawi Foreign Minister In His Office
Somaliland President – HE Muse Bihi Abdi – today received at his office a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi, HE Eisenhower Nduwa Mkaka on a working visit to Somaliland. In the meeting, the current relationship between the Somaliland Republic and the government of Malawi and the ways to deepen such brotherly relationship between the two nations were discussed.
The President of Somaliland Republic briefed the delegation on the progress made by the successive Somaliland governments and the Somaliland people, stressing that Somaliland nation has not received her full recognition in Africa and in the world, despite meeting the criteria and the requirements for statehood status.
On his part, the Malawian Foreign Minister thanked the President and the people of Somaliland for the warm welcome and at the same time conveyed the greetings of the President of Malawi to Somaliland president.
In addition to the President, the meeting was also attended by the Vice President of Somaliland, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Interior, Finance, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation..
On the part of Malawian delegation, the Minister was accompanied by Mr. Martin Tom – who is a presidential advisor- and William Bambi from the Africa and Middle East department of Malawi’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During their stay in the country, the delegation will meet with various branches of government to assess Somaliland’s progress and democracy.
Recently, the Somaliland government has stepped up its efforts to improve relations with African countries, especially those in the East African region, in order to promote the Somaliland ambition.
