Somaliland Vows Fiercely Defending Territorial Integrity
The fight in Las Anod won’t end until every square inch of Somaliland is free of Al Shabab and its local allies, no matter how long it takes, how much blood is shed, or how much property is destroyed.
Somaliland president- Muse Bihi – in a loud and clear voice reiterated Somaliland’s position on Las Anod insurgency to Somalia and to the world as well in his address to the nation on the occasion of celebrating the 32nd anniversary of Somaliland sovereignty resumption.
President Bihi remarked in his speech that history always repeats itself.
In 1988, when Hargeisa was brutally and randomly bombarded by Somalia’s military jets, killing tens of thousands of Somaliland people and razing the city to the ground, Majertenian military pilots were the ones who carried out that mission, besides the mercenaries from South Africa.
Even though that agonizing period in Somaliland’s history has passed 50 years, the same Majertenia continues to fuel the blaze in Las Anod with the sole agenda of dismembering Somaliland Republic.
When he reiterated the Somaliland government’s position on the Las Anad issue, President Bihi said:
“Let the men inciting violence in Las Anod know this.
As long as the enemy is in Somaliland by even an inch within its proper boundaries, the Las Anod war will continue, regardless of how long it takes, how many men are killed, or how much property is destroyed,
The war will continue until the border of Somaliland is secured.
We are not a people that cannot be intimidated with war’s suffering and destruction.
We are not a people that will tolerate the slightest interferences on their liberties and rights, whether they come from Muslims or non-Muslims“
